scent contol - JLIST MOPP Gear? - 12/19/14 12:44 PM

Instead of buying all the high dollar scent protection systems, how about buying the NBC protection gear (JLIST or MOPP) gear worn by the military. Anybody ever tried this? I'm thinking it eliminates scent as good as anything.

Thoughts?

Hunt the wind and don't worry about scent is my advise.

I'll tell you from experience if the weather is like it has been like it has thats the last thing you want to wear. I use to pour puddles of sweat out of that suit

This is an absolutely true statement. I haven't worn one for quite some time but they also used to give your uniform a really nice dusting of charcoal powder to go with the massive sweating and for some reason we never seemed to do NBC training in the winter...

Agreed, MOPP gear will have you sweating buckets. Not worth it.

Yep. I trained in MOPP gear in sub freezing weather and was still sweating bullets and fogging up my face mask. Also one of the only times in my life I felt claustrophobic. No bueno

I wash my clothes with scent free detergents. After they dry they go in a larger rubber made container with scent wafers. Also use an earth scent spray. Have not had a deer smell me yet. I have had lots of deer come from down wind. Cheap and effective.

I was in the US Army CBRN Corps. This is the first time I've ever heard anyone ask to wear MOPP Gear. Too funny.

And it isn't a vapor tight suit (Plus - this crap stinks). You'll be sitting out there sweating to death, be covered in charcoal dust, and wondering why you haven't seen anything for weeks!! clap

^^^ This....

Ive even taken them out of the dryer (use the earth scent dryer sheets) thrown them in a trash bag and either a wafer or dryer sheet into the trash bag and then tie it off.

I hate wearing that crap. Its hot, restrictive, and uncomfortable.

You might do it once, but not again after. In my time in the army, MOPP gear was the only thing that never got stolen, lol
