If you like him kill him. Most bucks get a little better every year. Some make really good jumps at the right age and in the right rainfall year. Some stay the same from one year to the next.

I'm gonna say 4 yo, back not completely flat, rump is defined. Can't tell from the angle on his chest. Shooter is totally up to you .

Hard with only this angle, look to be 4.5-5.5.
Normally they will grow from those ages to next year,,, but the rain will take and important roll there.

We are trying hard to manages the heard and develop trophy deer. It may not be a lot but we feed 6,000lbs of protein from Mid January - May.2nd year of doing it. Starting to see some better deer. I was hoping this guy would get bigger next year. A ton of young bucks on the place. We are basically shooting culls.

If you can afford it, try keeping protein available through September. if you like him or have better quality in the same age class then shoot him.

He is a nice buck. If you are trying to manage the herd, I would let him go another year in that area and see what he does, especially if you have other bucks that need to die worse than him. If you like him, whack him.
For what it is worth, I don't hunt that far from there and we have a lot of 8's that hit that level and don't seem to change much as they get older.

We have three on the place that are good bucks. Just a ton of basket 8's and 6's.
