Dickens County buck - 11/17/14 11:39 PM
The chase is over. Friday was a crazy day, spent 4 hours at his feeder in his domain, saw not a single buck but noticed a very abundant amount of new does. Went back to camp for lunch and while I'm sitting in the camper eating he steps out and is glaring (or laughing)at me. In my haste to get out of the camper and to my rifle in the truck the wind slammed the camper door against the camper and before I could steady my rifle he was gone. I proceeded to step to the rim of the canyon where I saw him in hopes of possibly getting a shot. Nothing, absolutely nothing!!! So out of pure frustration I chose to go back to his area (1.5 miles away from where I just saw him)and wait him out and hoped that he came back. Got into the blind at 2pm froze my butt off and just at dark and 5 minutes before I decide I'm going to leave(very dejected again), I catch a glimpse of movement. Shoulder my rife only able to note that this is a shooter (not sure if it was him), I pull the trigger and down he went!!! This is when I started freaking out inside for I wasn't sure I wanted my hunt to end by shooting the wrong deer so I couldn't get there fast enough. What an awesome feeling to walk up on such a worthy advisory.
