Turkey Texas

Going back up to Turkey in a few weeks for my annual family hunt. Last year couple of guys I went with got good bucks but I got blanked. Passed on a pretty good whitetail so another guy could take the shot and miss. So here's my question. What tactics work great in this part of the state for white tail and mule deer? I know there are great deer on this ranch its just hard as hell to find them. Also another question is how is the calling in this area. I know it is eaten up with coyotes but are there any cats or anything else?
