Excuses, Excuses

Excuses, Excuses - 11/04/14 12:50 AM

Opening Weekend can be a time when you hear all sorts of excuses. From reasons why shots went astray, to why a feeder didn't go off as expected. From someone not having brought the beer, to an alarm clock that didn't go off.

What excuses did you hear someone rant over this past weekend?

They all boil down to human error, even the excuse of "I didn't see any deer." He/she should have hunted somewhere else. clap

Well, I have to admit being on the hook for a friend's feeder not going off. Him being the type that finds it difficult to set his own watch, he asked me to set it for him. And with myself having 55 year old eyes, I forgot to notice the AM/PM indicator.

Oh well, the deer are letting the corn pile up under it anyway.

All blinds were cleaned out a couple weeks ago but the yellow jackets moved into a few of them with the cold. Two of us had to change stands due to it. I forgot the raid so got to another stand pretty late in the afternoon.

I heard an iPad caused one missed opportunity.

Women are to blame for everything that goes wrong in a man's life.

I spotted a great big 10 pt. that my BIL has been jonesing for under his south feeder while he was hunting the north end. I texted him and told him I was going on a stalk for "his" deer, which was 400 yds away. The wind was howling, so I wanted to get closer for the shot. I snuck out of my blind and got a big oak tree between the deer and I, then hauled axx to the tree. When I got to the depression that the tree sits in, I stuck my head up over the rise and he was looking around, but didn't look too concerned with anything until he jerked his head a bit, looking to my right, then he just exploded out of there.
I looked up the hill to my right to see the door of my blind swinging in the wind because the latch doesn't hold since it blew over a few months ago.

No worries though, my BIL missed him three times in a row last night before running out of legal shooting time-apparentl his scope is way off and he never bothered to check zero before the season opened...roflmao
