Nice buck but is he a shooter?

The big mature buck in the first part of the video is really close to being legal width. He is the largest bodied buck I've seen on the property so far but his rack being so close to legal gets him a pass this year.

I agree with letting him pass. I'd say he's 3.5 and next year a little more size on his rack will help ensure he's legal.

That 10 pt you passed on earlier was a shooter.

He's three but I wouldn't promise he will get wider. He has a tight rack.

If we don't have another dry spell and we feed these deer some good mineral supplements I'll bet many of these bucks will be shooters next season. A buck I saw last week was surely a shooter but I was unarmed and in my car headed home right about dark.

You'll know in your heart when you have him in your sights if he's a shooter. If you even have to ask, then no.

I think the second to last "high and tight" buck near the end of the video (22 minute mark) is the same buck in the video from last year (above).. still not a shooter !
