Shed hunting Contest
Maybe we can have a little contest to see who finds the biggest shed this year from now until may or something? It could be done like the varmint contest with a certain object in the pitcure. Let me know what you'll think?

How would the scoring go?
Some suggestions:
One point for every inch of antler?
spike shed-1 point
2 points on shed-4 points
3 points on shed-9 points
4 points on shed-16 points
5 points on shed-25 points
6 points on shed-36 points etc...see the pattern?
10 addition points for a drop tine or split brows?
-5 points for each broken tine

Re: Shed hunting Contest - 03/05/08 08:40 PM
How about just use the boon and crockett ...dugh...like MaggieMTx said tape or rule......
and maybe an award for coolest shed.....I love non typicals.!
I was just thinking the biggest shed, since its all going to be pitcures it shouldnt be hard to tell who's is the biggest. Oh yeah and this does include mule deer!

I would think you could just visibly look at it and let the internet police do their job!
They should have to be this years shed, with date stamp and and must be two divisions, high fence and low fence???

You definately need 2 divisions just because there will be more "older-bigger" bucks on HF places. However, it is just as hard finding them. I think there should also be an additional prize for the smallest spike. Bigger antlers are easier to see.

Sounds like a cool idea, I'd like to see some big sheds to keep the juices flowing in the off-season. How about posting pictures of the sheds and letting the masses vote?

Thats funny!
I found my first matching set of sheds in January of this year and it was a spike that was no more than 2" long on each side!!
I could have been a winner!!

Went out to my leasse this weekend and was going to do some turkey scouting and look for sheds. Saw lots of turkeys but ZERO sheds and that's because they are still wearing them. I saw 8 bucks with both sides of the racks. Isn't this late.....
I think by the beginning of April they'll be mostly dropped. The weather might have something to do with it, but I really dont know.

big horns have already fallen off of the deer. The smaller bucks will keep em longer. I've been told that they're already finding some decent sheds down in this area.
