New Winch doesn't work

Not happy! Wired up the winch today. Took a while and was a sauna in the barn, but finally it was done. And then the winch won't reel in or out. Makes noise, but doing nothing. I figured it was just set to freespool, so I checked. Nope, it was set right. Still not working. Washed up a bit and went in the house and called Warn customer service. Finally got a human. He said that it must be set to freespool, so set the clutch to engage. Well heck, this ain't my first winch, and I did that first thing, so tell me what other options I have. Well, he says he guesses the clutch isn't engaging. Well, duh, so again...what else can I do to make this d___ thing work. He says that I could take it apart and maybe get it to working. Take it apart, I say, i didn't buy this thing to be a science fair project. I bought it to winch stuff and the GD thing isn't winching. So I yelled a bit more and hung up. Man, I was and am PO'd.

Unless you guys have a suggestion (helpful suggestion) I'll take that boat anchor piece of junk off the ATV and take it back to Cabelas.

I bought a Warn winch cause Warn winches are supposed to WORK.

I told you not to buy a Warn. I have had them on ATV's and Jeeps, won't own another one ever. I've had sole solenoid a fail over and over, had clutches go bad after 1 pull, have had them get stuck while fully unwound. They are junk.

I have had great luck with Mile Marker and the past few years been using Smittybilt without issues.

Bigpig, I didn't see that comment in 603 statement not to buy. He didn't understand the mental telepathy that you sent.

I got a new one. Cabela's replaced it. Got to work up the energy to go out in the heat and install it.

I did test it. It worked, thank goodness. Everything is bolted in, hooked up and working. And it had better keep working. I bet I have a total of 18 hours of time in working on this. I don't want to do this again.

I'm not doin diddly tomorrow.

Well if it wasn't his thread, I've said it many many times before. I hate Warn winches
