Best years for used Polaris Rangers?

Over the years in this forum I've seen several mentions of the "best years" for Rangers. Seems like some years were known to be better for reliability, less noisy engines, less problem with dust, etc.

What are the best years and models between say 2009 and 2014? Any years to be avoided?

Not sure whether it will be a single row or crew so feel free to include both.

We have a Polaris ranger 6x6 it's either a 2007 or 2008 and its bee great

Dust is just one of those that will not be prevented from what iv seen man... 09 was terrible.... keep the windshield off and it will help at least in the seats.. especially the front of crews...

If I was in the Market to buy I would skip the crew then get a single seat with high ride seats in the back... dust hardly affects the single seat machines and you will be high enough in the bed that if needed wont affect your passengers either...

Thanks Nav. Yeah, if I do go the UTV route I'm leaning towards getting a single row and building a rear seat high rack for it. The crews are just so dang long. That long wheelbase hurts maneuverability from those I've driven. Always a compromise.

The new Mule Pro FXTs get around that with the trans cab, but I don't have ~$13K to drop. Old Mules don't have the power and suspension I'm after. We'll see.

I was told the ones before 2010. I had a 2008 I bought with 360 hrs on it and kept it till 700 or hrs. A lot depends on who owned it and what they did with it.

I have never had a ranger. I had thought about it but after seeing some for sale on this forum with not a whole lot of hours on them and the sellers telling all the new parts that have been installed it made me think. Why are people having to do engine and drive gear work on something with less than a thousand hours on it? Since then I have decided to either get another Kubota or maybe a Mahindra when and if this one gets past the repairing stage. I have a Kubota RTV that I have had now for over 5 years. It has 2374 hours on it. The seat has a tear on it. I am on the 3rd. set of tires. I had to put a fan belt on the altenator. And I put a auto muffler on it to quiet it down some. That is it. It gets driven everyday. It has never failed to start. It will do 25 MPH which the only time I do that is on the county rd. I can pull the trailer out in the pasture and load goats in places where a pickup can not get. I have pulled the flatbed trailer with 50 bales of Alfalfa on it. If a person wants a UTV that will last and doesn't want a hot rod think about a Kubota.

I own a 2014 900 crew I bought new that has 780 hours now. It's been a jewel.

The early 800's get HOT. There was a lot of complaints about the seats getting hot. When I went to buy, which was prior to the 900's coming out and around 2012. I did quite a bit of research and came to the conclusion that the 700 was what I wanted. There wasn't much upside and more risk involved, in the 800 engine. I also realized I wanted the newer body style...so that led me to 1 year that I could buy that was a 700 and new body style (and they only did it on the single cabs)...it was a 2009. It's been a good one and even now, I'm not interested in selling and getting a new one. This one has done everything I needed or wanted and it goes way faster with the 700 than I want to run it (generally speaking )

I'd definitely consider a Kubota Don, if I go the UTV route. Know several folks who are pleased with theirs. You dont see them for sale used as much. Maybe that says something.

I had a 2009 700 for 10000 miles and it was good machine and probably would still be driving it but it caught on fire so now I have a 900. I like the 900 a lot better.

Have a 2011 Ranger and only replaced tires last year. Pull maintenance on it every year before Deer Season.
