College Bound and Empty Nesters.

College Bound and Empty Nesters. - 01/27/18 01:39 AM

Interesting days lay ahead for all of us, the last child flew the coop to go to Chapman University in the City of Orange, CA.

We flew into LA X Sunday morning rented a Highlander from DisAdvantage Rent A Car (never again bang) headed to Debs brothers house in Hermosa Beach. No sooner than we are unpacked Victoria was dying for us to go hike up to the Hollywood sign in the hills so we drove up there and Confucius/confusion took all of they way over nuts So no hiking to the sign and off to where the fruit & nuts thrive, yep next Victoria wanted to show us the walk of shame stars on Hollywood BLVD. muyloco
We visited the zoo and headed back to Hermosa to hang at the beach, great evening then got up Monday morning and did it again.

Monday around 11:am we leave Hermosa and took off to the City of Orange, the wife checked us into our motel (Days Inn) and the sweet oriental lady said for breakfast they bring in food from Denny's up The suitcases barely hit the bed when our girl instructs us to head to Newport beach so we gone by by.

Tuesday around 5:30 am I sneak out of the room head to 7/11 get a Big cup of Joe and meander around, come back to the motel to check out the Denny's breakfast spread to no avail? Ask the Oriental man when the Denny's grub arrives and in very broken English he tells me what you see is what you get, were talking sweet rolls in packages, Raisin Bran or Corn Flake cereal, Chicken or Shrimp Roman Noodles, yep living large.
scratch Nope that is not what I am going to feed my family so off in search of real food, Victory Diner came through for the next two days.

Now the real fun begins, it is move into the dorm day. We flew out there with 12 bags 6 check in, 6 carry on and 90% was her stuff.
After the initial unloading and set up at the dorm we made 5 more trips to various stores such as Marshalls, Target, Wallymart, Dollar Tree and elsewhere, it was work people. Had crispy fried chicken waffle sandwich at Bruxe which was pretty good (trendy food) and crash.

Wednesday was parent and student orientation day from 9-4 and was actually somewhat interesting. Afterwards the wife was dying for some Wienerschnitzel so off we went.

Thursday it is time to drop the girl off at the dorm and say our adios for now as the next chapter in all of our lives begins.
So now it is just Deb, Luke and I in the nest, poor wife she still cannot out run me rofl

Well done Stub....... both of mine have finished college and are now working their way thru life. Your home will never be the same. Not trying to be negative just realistic. It's what we raise them to be..... strong independent adults but you sure miss them. Thanks for sharing you photos sir!

Nice job Stub!

Mr. Miyagi says you must practice "paint the fence" and "wax on, wax off" before using the crane kick

Empty nesters for going on 3 years now. Miss them sometimes but overall it’s great. Both in the same area only two hours away so that makes it easier.

For a small private (8,000 students) Liberal Arts college it was a perceived conservative parents nightmare. After seeing a bunch of normal looking students this Texas boy felt so much better

Congrats on getting your last one out of the nest. Scary that she chose So Cal, but hopefully she has a strong mind and cn make it through four years of socialist indoctrination unscathed.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes for my daughter, she is a tough Texas gal and she will be fine up

Wanted to share two more pics on that tree, it is one of those things were it is hard to comprehend the grandeur of it unless you are right next to it.

Do you see the muyloco hiding in the roots?
