Knockdown Power - 01/21/18 10:12 AM

They its a myth but tell that to this coyote I shot tonight with my 12 gauge shooting 300 grain Hornady SSTs and no the bullet didn't hit spine just straight through the vitals.

yep and only shooting 2 3/4 shells. It took a little time to get use to but I’ve gotten pretty good at staying on target after the shot even when standing and shooting either free hand or off tripod. Luckily there is plenty of room between scope and my eye lol.

furthest shot so far was 130 yards. On hogs I can usually get within 50 or less yards coyotes usually come in within 30-80 yards.

I've hunted with shotgun slugs but never had the chance to shoot. I've got boxes of slugs that I keep for defense, but haven't fired one in a long time. Have a 50 cal muzzleloader that I shoot 285 grain Barnes copper HP from, shot a big doe with at 75 yrds and couldn't believe the hole. eeks333

the first coyote I shot with one of these slugs had a huge hole and about half a lung hanging out the hole lol and almost blew the leg off.

Good job sir. But the question remains, did that coyote really get blown over, or just respond to the shot?
Maybe a little of both?

There is no doubt that a shotgun packs a lot of wallop at short range, I have sent a few squirrels flying from 10-15 feet in the past, with bird shot.
