My folks have a 6’6” fence behind their house. I’ve actually seen deer jump that one.

Have seen it 5 separate times on three different ranches, 3x from one ranch and 2x driving down the highway. 3x deer were jumping "out" and 2x deer were jumping "in"... it happens more than you want to believe.

4 deer were bucks and one was a doe....

High fences "deter" them from jumping....it doesn't "stop" them......

There is a high fence north of Bronte, we saw a deer running in the bar ditch and he jumped that high fence like a high school high jumper.

My uncle raised aoudad sheep...his pens are 8' plus a couple strands of barbed wire above that.....when they started jumping it standing flat on one side he sold the entire lot......didn't loose any....if they jumped out they would jump back in or he would open the gate to let them back in....

Is that sarcasm or did you miss how he belly flopped on it rolled over and landed on his back/side/not feet?

I've seen them clear a 8' game fence on multiple occasions at my parents place outside of Breckenridge TX without touching it. I've also seen them hit it at a run and get launched back where they came from. I guess some (white) tails really can jump.

For how many people that have apparently seen deer clear an 8ft fence why isn't there video?

Yeah, belly flopping over or climbing over don't count. Still waiting for a video of a clean jump over an 8 foot fence.

really? I thought the guestion was can they jump it...in other words start on one side of the fence and finish on the other side. I do think the buck in the above video clear the fence...definitely didn't get points for style but he finished on the other side.

No, we've got people saying a whitetail can cleanly jump or "easily clear" 8 feet. I'm not saying they can't, I just want to see a video of one doing it. Maybe someday.

With the amount of people that videotape hunts, especially on high fence ranches, there should be at least one video.

Yes the landing left a little to be desired but the jump itself looked pretty effortless. up

I think he just misjudged it a bit, or maybe told the other deer, 'Hold my beer and watch this." grin
