You go fishing! It was hot Saturday afternoon at the lease! Hunting was slow anyway, so we went fishing. My brother, my son and I started fishing mid day. My son had 3 rods in the water rigged with shrimp and chicken livers, and was frequently catching catfish. We were sitting in the shade in our lawn chairs drinking a cold beer with a slight breeze coming in off our small lake. (I thought about the Hank Williams Jr. song , Country State of Mind.) My son broke off a catfish, so I tied on a top water to see what the small pops were all about I was seeing. Within a few casts, I tied on to this bugger. He was easy 5 lb + bass. We now have huge motivation to get a little boat and fish all over the 50 acre lake we have. It was awesome!

This pretty much the only freshwater fish I eat anymore are lmb or crappie. That one would keep its skin and go on the grill! up

Nope! He got tossed back to be caught another day. The catfish however, next time will be put on a stringer and filleted. We are already talking about a fish fry out there.

I hunt deer. You never know if the deer are moving or when they will start moving if you are doing something else.

No. It's a private lake on our deer lease.

My tank is about 1.25 acres and absolutely full of 1/2 to 3/4 pound bass. I've caught hundreds in that range, but never any larger. On Friday after Thanksgiving my daughter and friend want to fish, so I take them up. I'm sipping beer, smoking a cigar, and baiting hooks when my daughter call out for help, she has a "big one" caught. I slowly make my way over and am astonished. She has caught a 3.6 pound bass on her Barbie rig, using a jig that I put a big ugly rubber salamander on cuz she needed the weight to cast. The fish was easily 5x larger than every fish I've ever hooked in this tank. Maybe I need my own Barbie Rig...
