Easy for you to say as you were not there. I had zero clue it was there. I had been mowing brush all morning. It took me 20 minutes to clear all the green limbs off the main part before you could even see it.

This was before all the trimming.

Anyway, just sharing my misfortune.....No reason to be a dick

Ouch! Hate that.

Still trying to feature how it happened?

Were you pushing the butt end of it and it slipped off the bucket?

Trees can be very vindictive. I've had pine saplings work their way between every opening and find the oil sensor and break it off, and dead branches jump up and go right through the metal of my oil pan like it was paper. TWICE!!! I can't even count how many hydraulic lines I've had broken off by branches, it's like they know just how to cause the most damage possible.

Sorry to see your damage, it's very frustrating.

I had been mowing undergrowth all morning long. Lots of tall vegetation. I had the bucket set just above the ground to catch logs and sticks to avoid them busting the oil filter off again. This tree was apparently angled slightly and missed the bucket. You would have never seen the wood on it. It was covered in vegetation. I thought it was more over growth that I had been mowing. Even after it happened I was amazed how much growth was around the shaft of the tree. Just one of those things that happened. I was mowing in second gear at about 1 mph watching the whole time. Never had a clue until my hood crumpled. The tree went about 3ft in. It's amazing the limited amount of damage it actually did. Don't get me wrong. The hood and grill will run about $600-$1300 depending on what parts with the grill I might need. I will tear it all down this weekend to find out exactly what to do.

I did clear everything out and checked over the tractor.....mowed about 3 more hours. Good to go, sorta

Yep, the panels are not cheap, especially the green and yellow ones. Glad you're OK. I will drag stuff out with my bucket before I drive in blind.

Thanks!

Lol you would spend all your time dragging stuff and not much hogging at my place. It's a tree farm. Nothing out there is light duty

Glad it didn't get the radiator or you. I think we have all been there one way or the other.
Years ago mowing the trail to one of the back stands and found a big pine tree that had fallen and was covered with honeysuckle. I was in a medium gear and hit it hard enough to blow out the valve stems in the front tires. Didn't leave the loader at home after that.

This makes me appreciate the lack of trees in West Texas.

Ouch! Glad you weren't hurt. I ran one through the front glass of an enclosed skid steer a few months ago.

It's rather amazing as bad as it looks very little damage happened. The only thing I have to replace is the front grill. Maybe the hood. But I think I can get that straightened out at a body shop. Nothing else was really damaged to speak of.

Re: And you thought you had a bad day........ - 09/17/17 01:12 AM

Glad that was all the damage it did.
Not sure it I would replace with a factory, might looking at upgrading for strength and impact. But then I know how I run a tractor.
