How did that happen? Equipment damage sux. Slow down and be careful. Every time, yep, every time that happened to me, my stupid fault.
I had been mowing undergrowth all morning long. Lots of tall vegetation. I had the bucket set just above the ground to catch logs and sticks to avoid them busting the oil filter off again. This tree was apparently angled slightly and missed the bucket. You would have never seen the wood on it. It was covered in vegetation. I thought it was more over growth that I had been mowing. Even after it happened I was amazed how much growth was around the shaft of the tree. Just one of those things that happened. I was mowing in second gear at about 1 mph watching the whole time. Never had a clue until my hood crumpled. The tree went about 3ft in. It's amazing the limited amount of damage it actually did. Don't get me wrong. The hood and grill will run about $600-$1300 depending on what parts with the grill I might need. I will tear it all down this weekend to find out exactly what to do.
I did clear everything out and checked over the tractor.....mowed about 3 more hours. Good to go, sorta
