Can I get age and score input on this guy? Only seen him once on camera but want a better idea incase he steps back out. We hunt near Jarrell Tx and its a good deer for the area but we are trying to get a good management program going and don't want to shoot young deer, or even 4.5 year olds to let them fill the gene pool. What do y'all think?

Thank you in advance!

I wouldn't hesitate shooting a 4yr old 8 because of gene particulars... only if you need more buck:doe would be the only management wised call on not shooting imo... BUT he will be bigger next year if he dont die from rut or someone else... and hes running hard

We have very little pressure from neighboring properties luckily so if he gets one more year he should be even better. You can't see it in those pictures but in that top picture I believe he has a small 9th point on his left beam which is the only reason I hesitate at all. Because he could be real good next year if he grows another to match. Guess we will see what happens if he gets in the crosshairs!

Id say at his age hes 95% gona be a 9or under next year rather the other way. Its not impossible but iv hardly seen them add main points (not stickers, kickers, drops etc) but solid MB points

That's a danged nice buck. It would be hard to give him a pass but I would let him walk this year.

I think he might be a 5 year old deer. I agree 130 to 135 depending on his spread. Very nice buck! Are you east or west of IH-35?

West side off 487 outside Jarrell, first year on the place for our group and we are trying to get it top notch!

Mature deer for sure. I don't think he will sniff 130 though. Low 120's imo.

Nice, I assume the deer density is pretty good if its hill country type terrain. If you've got this guy walking around out there. I'd say you've got a good start on getting your place "top notch." Good luck on the rest of the season and moving forward beyond that.

Well the rubber met the road and I did not think twice about pulling the trigger on this old boy. He cam out once for about 5 seconds and allowed me to get the jitters out then I watched him chase does for another 15 minutes before he disappeared for a while. He came back out at 45yards and my hand-me-down Remington .270 I got from my grandpa dropped him in his tracks. We scored him with a hard tape measure(it was all we had)and he went 120 1/2 but he would do a little better with a better measuring tape but he is the biggest I've ever taken even with that 120 1/2 score and have high hopes for our lease for years to come!
