First pig shot and recovered with my bow

First pig shot and recovered with my bow - 10/21/16 12:59 AM

I've shot several pigs with my bow, but have never recovered any. That changed this past weekend when I shot this big die. She came in with about 40 pigs total (mostly piglets). The piglets could get into my feeder pen, but the bigger pigs couldn't. The big pigs started circling the pen and found about 20 pieces of corn I dropped just inside the pen. She made the mistake of trying to get the corn right in front of my tripod. I put the NAP Thunderhead 125 through both lungs and she ran about 70-80 yards. I added a second picture with my Glick 21 on her side for size comparison. Not the best, but only thing I had with me at the time.

I'm not going to guess her weight, but she's the biggest sow I've ever killed.

That's a BIG sow....I can tell you that.

Where I hunt... most of our pigs are considered large (in comparison to other parts of the State), but that one easily equals what we have here.

Good Job!

From the look of it, its a good thing you got her or in a few weeks you might have had another 10 or so piglets to deal with.

I always shoot a sow if I can.
