My very first Red fish ever. Was an awesome fight on 12 lb line with a crank bait.

Thanks for sharing your photo. Nic Red and a great sport fish. Red Drum are a blast to catch without a doubt. I drive across Lake Pontchitrain every day going to and returning from work. About a month ago I was seeing huge schools of reds schooling on top and if it wasn't for the traffic on I-10 I would have stopped for a few photos. One school was likely at least the size of a standard Walmart parking lot and they where hammering a school of thread fin shad.

Caught on Lake Calaveras. We caught about 12 total in a couple of hours.

I'd be real curious to know what the fresh water red caught on Lake Calaveras taste compared to a coastal caught salt water red......

I used to catch Red drum out of Lake Colorado City from time to time and they tasted just like the ones from Galveston Bay.
