I couldn't imagine sitting in the blind or glassing for mule deer from a ridge and seeing that guy. Would be really cool if all the landowners in the area let the population establish. I understand that it is hard for the landowners though because of the competition for food with their cattle.

Hunted on a ranch between Alpine and Marathon that had a somewhat established herd. Not big in regard to numbers, but it was no surprise to see elk during the course of the day. You might see them for a week on the same ranch and then not see them for a couple of weeks. When they invaded an area where there was a free choice feeder, they stayed close around until all of the protein was gone. Once they found a protein feeder, they pretty much claimed it until there was nothing more to claim that would benefit them.

Beautiful bull. One almost took me out south of Sheffield when I was driving to the lease one night last season. He decided to hesitate about 1 foot off the pavement and the second he appeared in my headlights. This old man almost had to change drawers.

That is awesome. They have small herds in and around Fort Davis and other West Texas areas as well. Really cool to see them around.

Quite often there are some that find it to Hwy 90, west of Sanderson, by the Longfellow Ranch. Not too bad during the day, or at least some light, but when it's dark, you want to be careful, cuz you dang sure don't wanna hit one of them at speed.

That's down near our Pikes Peak plant and Pinion field. Well established herd down there and numbers are safe. Only moron would think of taking shot at one on side of rode in that area! great to see them like that.

My wife's cousin has a ranch about 10-15 miles south from where it looks like this was filmed. They sell elk, audad, mulie, & pronghorn hunts. Like was said earlier, there are a lot more elk in west Texas than people would think.
