Snake ID - 07/31/16 09:46 PM

After playing hide and seek and snapping at me a few times it was the only choice. I know it's not venomous but what is it? It was in some shoes in the garage.

Yellow bellied water snake. Fish eating machine. Not good for anything but target practice. Good job!

Not a yellow bellied water snake, scales are way too smooth. Doesn't look like any western coachwhip I've ever seen/caught but my first thought was yellow belly racer. They get pretty aggressive, especially when cornered.

How big is it?

Looks like a eastern yellowbelly racer.

He was probably 36"

He could be stretched out and strike pretty good
