New Ammunition video

New Ammunition video - 06/14/16 06:41 PM

Take 1 of my video for loading single stage and weighing out the powder to within .02 grains. This shows my set up and how I load my custom ammunition with my single stage set up. This was our first video take and I'm thinking I want to redo it to smooth it out in a few spots.

Next video we make will be the progressive press video (my bulk ammo), showing how it's loaded and the powder being thrown by volume.

I was hoping that you would have worked in "IMPACT" somewhere.

Chad, Nicely done on the video.

You mentioned that measuring to the .02/grain helped with "precision", especially related to minimizing extreme spread. That's the technical side of things of course.

Simply as constructive advice - I am not sure who you are making the video for. Are you making the video to market your business (i.e., for people who do not reload), or are you making the video to help reloaders better understand the mechanics of reloading? You own a business that sells to people who do not reload, so I assume the former. If that's the case, I think you could add a few more basic comments while keeping the technical explanation. In addition to talking about extreme spread, do you think you should mention more simply that the reason you measure to .02/grain is for (1.1) accuracy on target and (1.2) ethical shots on animals? I think it would be a nice addition that would help you market to people not quite so familiar with the reloading technicalities that many on the ammo/reloading portion of our forum already have. My two cents.

Really though, nice video.

Re: New Ammunition video - 06/15/16 02:10 PM

Thank you for the comments!! Yes, the idea is to explain the differences in how ammunition is loaded, and how I load ammunition. (My next video will be loading on a progressive press). This video was made to show the detail we put into our custom match ammo loaded on a single stage. I often get asked why is my bulk 308 Win ammo $82 per 100 and the custom stuff about twice the cost. The price difference is ammo loaded single stage vs. loaded on a progressive press. I am wanting to inform customers on what the benefit is of single stage and why the bulk ammo is a lower cost option and the benefits (and negatives) of progressive loaded ammo. Video #2 will show ammo loaded on a progressive press and will weigh out some powder charges thrown from the Dillon 1050. That video will be later on.
