Old Upland Photo - Female Pioneer

This is my great aunt after a day chasing ruff grouse in about 1935.



She was a backwoods pioneer and actually worked as a guide for bear and moose in the 30s and 40s. Sadly there are very few photos of her from this period in her life.

That's pretty cool. I hunted ruffed grouse as a kid. Excellent game bird and good eating. From the looks of it she must have been good at handling that old side by side.

Met her in my mid 20s and than visited her annually for the next 10 years or so until her death about 10 or 12 years ago.

That's really cool. I hunted down my great-grand Dad's shotgun and revolver a few years ago and it wasn't easy! Again, that's a great pic.
