Found one of my hunting photos on an anti hunting site.

It was one I posted on THF with a bunch of jackrabbits long ago. I noticed it because the Leupold facebook page had recently posted it on their facebook, which I did consent to after the fact. So I thought to do a google image search of the same photo just to see were else it might have turned up. To my dismay it was being used on a anti hunting blog page with a caption suggesting they were not eaten. Which was false as they were killed to help an outfitter who needed them to go towards a mixed wild game dinner somewhere. Anyway, the rest of the story is that I reported the photo to google via online form as being owned by me and being used without my permission. The page including several other's hunting photos I suspect also mined from THF posts was taken down in less than three days for violating the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Most anti hunting pages are using pictures stolen from other places on the web. So know that tool is out there if y'all ever find one of your hunting related photos stolen and being used on a google owned site or blog.

How do you search for an image you post?

For those that don't already know, if you want to see where a particular photo (yours or others) has been posted, simply right click on it and select "Search Google for image".

It might not get every publication...but it is a good start.

You can also go to google images. https://images.google.com/
Click on the camera in the search field for search by image.

I use Google images to find copyright violators on a regular basis. It is a powerful tool that can used to pursue compensation for damages when needed. I am amazed at how many people think that your copyright ends when you publish it on the web.

I killed a book deer a few years back. I posted a picture of the deer and me on several forums. A year or two later I was looking at some hunting websites and pulled one up. Lo and behold there is my picture on the home page of a guy selling deer and hog hunts. Very clearly the site was insinuating that my deer was killed on one of his ranches. I google the guy and sure enough, his reviews were horrible - scam artist - so I called him. Told him how cool his hunts looked and I would like to book a hunt. I told him how awesome that 201 inch buck looked on his site and asked which ranch was he killed on? You talk about somebody doing a dance! Then I told him that I was the guy in the picture and that was my deer killed on my lease. I told him if it was not off his website by the next day my lawyer would be all over it. He tried to tell me that any picture posted on the internet was free game. I told him that may be but I would bury him not only with the legal angle but also with postings on every hunting outlet I could find. The picture was removed the next day. Some true scumbags out there
