Was I a fool to let this guy walk? Never seen one with this much white and a tail that looked like feathers. confused2

I got a skunk stuffed. They make really nice looking mounts on a shelf, but it sure was a struggle getting it to my taxidermist!!!! Even in the back of my truck, the smell was almost too much.

Thanks STX. Looked it up and learned north Texas is the northern most end of their range. It stretches way into South America.

Yep, STX nailed it (no surprise).

That particular skunk has a lot of black in its tail, most have more white or can be all white.

Had you killed it and looked at it carefully, you would have seen that physically...they are built more powerfully than the other skunks that inhabit Texas. To me....they look kind of half badger, half skunk.

Very cool...that you saw one. I've seen exactly one...in all my years afield.

Flint.

I would have taken it, Ladytaxi would do the mount. I'm sure there would be a long pause at the beginning of that phone call...

Pretty unusual looking. I don't like skunks so he would have gotten a dose of lead from me.

I snared one on them rascals once. I just thought is was a juvenile skunk or just had odd striping. I guess I should of had him mounted.

Skunk in the daylight equals a dead skunk as far as I'm concerned........

Learn something every day. We had one of thosethat lived on our place until he died. We thought he was just a white freak skunk. Cool.

Saw one out in Stephens county a couple of years ago. I too thought about shooting and looking (hard!) for a taxidermist who would take it. Maybe just a shoulder mount?
