Kids sure can grab a man's heart

My "niece". Aliyah who is 1 year old. Her parents are strung out on dope and her grandmother who Is over 60 has custody is trying to raise her. I have known this lady for years and her daughter is an old friend. I offered to babysit for a day and that was two months ago. Little girl deserves better. I get her on the weekends and she has her Papi wrapped up.
Adoption is not out of the question. Couldn't bear her to go to foster care.

One of my labs saw her Cheerio and wanted it at the same time Aliyah was giving her sugars thru the window.

Good on ya for stepping up and trying to help raise that little girl!

Cute girl! Very touching situation, awesome for you to step up! Sad deal her parents don't understand what they are missing out on.
Had relative end up the same way, luckily the father kept his head on straight and is handling raising two kids, fine all by himself.

Adoption is a great thing if you go that route.

Thank you all for the nice comments. The more I get her the more I miss her when she is gone. Been along time since this house heard the pitter patter of little feet, and I like it.

She said her first word and it was "deer". She loves all my mounts on the wall and points for me to pick her up to touch them. Already got her riding my four wheeler with me, feeding and playing with the Labs and other things just to get her to see what this big old world has to offer. She had been passed around so much in her young life that I believe she needs love, structure and the chance to just be a little kid.

As many of us have done to our own children, I sometimes look at her and am amazed at what God can create.

Thanks for letting me share. I don't get too sappy but she sure gets to her Papi.

I never held a baby more than once or twice till we had our own, now you cant keep me away from him. Kids are amazing!

One of those sad stories that you wish you could bundle up and make all the pain the kids are suffering just go away. Hope you can continue stepping up to the plate and going to bat for her, its hard for children to survive. I have several close friends who are going through a similar story, drugs and homeless children. Many people have stated how they hate thieves, but anyone who deserts or harms a child is way below the sorriest thief. I admire what you are doing, hope every thing works out for the young gal...
