What did this Big Boar weigh...

I happen to know but would like to hear some guesses. Hogs fool a lot of people on what they actually weigh. I just got finished weighing this boar.

I use to weigh all of mine back when I had a scale but haven't weighed one in many years. That's a very big pig or one little bitty gun. Pig looks very long and well built too.

I'd like to use one of my lifelines. After further review, I'd like to change my guess from 189 to 274.

I will give you one of JCB's lifelines to use.... Hint: that .22mag is over 40" long.

Will see if anyone gets it correct or even close. Might be sooner than Saturday morning.

I'm guessing 285, but wouldn't surprise me if he's over 300. The first animal I ever killed was a legit 400# hog, which was much fatter than this guy. So, I'm thinking less than that for sure. But the picture scale does seem a little hard to tell. Either way, he's a big and nasty pig.

Somebody dumped one of similar size in the middle of our county road, I kid you not that thing sat there for at least a month and nothing touched it but bugs.

There was one dead on the side of the road on 173 between Bandera and Hondo that has been there for over 2 weeks. At first it weighed around 225#. A week later it weighed way over 300. A couple of days ago about 100.

Anybody close yet?

This boar weighed 256.5 lbs according to this scale. It has 24 oz./1.5 lb marks instead of 2 lb marks. The 255 mark is actually where the rivet was on the scale. Scale stopped one mark above the 255 lb mark.

Very surprised he didn't weigh more. I saw one in a big pig contest a few years back that was in the 380's and based on those pics I thought he was in that class. I noticed yours didn't have the gut but looked like he had everything else.

He was weighed live weight, guts and all.

What I ment is he doesn't have the fat ballon gut that you see on some pigs.

Pretty good guess given I've never killed or been around a wild hog.

I got pretty close, because I've killed more like that than I can count unfortunately, but fortunately it's alot of fun.

I'm still trying to find out what this one weighs.

I've thrown my share of calves in my day, I tried to compare him to some of those and narrow my guess.

Pig weight = length from base of ears to base of Tail x heart girth squared divide result by 400. That is a big nasty south texas boar. I have killed many that were larger and under a year old that was on crops. This is a trophy boar any way you look at it.

I will have to remember that formula. Would try it on this one but he is a bit lighter after a couple of days of being the main course for buzzards and yotes.

My 265 lb estimate was just about right!

Might just go to show that all those other 250# hogs never saw a scale. I know other areas of the state produce some bigger hogs, but in 10 years of hunting our south texas place the biggest hog we have shot was 235 lbs... and we weighed them all. Several people thought the one that weighted 235 was 300+ easy and they weren't even close.
