Memorial to my neighbor...

Memorial to my neighbor... - 02/14/16 03:24 AM

My neighbor passed last year at a fairly young age (maybe 60). Had some serious heart conditions that caught up with him. He wanted to be buried under a big pecan tree at his land, so they did it and built a nice fence to keep hogs out. One of his best friends that I trade a lot of hunting notes with machined him an amazing gate at the entrance of his burial plot for his children and grandchildren to see when they visit him. I think this is awesome.

I did not know that you could still bury someone on private property. I thought it had to be in a cemetery. This is good information to know as I have a spot picked out for me on a farm that I have that I would like to be my last resting place. However, I am very sorry for the way that I had to learn about this. He must have been a good man who had good friends to do that for him. What a wonderful way and place to be remembered.

You have to get the state to code it as cemetery land first.

Sorry to hear about your neighbor. It's a beautiful gate, though.

And this becomes a big problem if his family should ever want to/try to sell the place.
