What can you legally do to a trespasser on your property?

Can you detain them with a weapon / walk them off the property / beat the snot out of them ?

One time when I was a kid I was following a creek shooting frogs with a slingshot and crossed a fence line to find more frogs & wound up finding a land owner with a sawed off shot gun who walked me too the fence & told me to keep the "F" off his property & leave his frogs alone. Made a impression on me

best advice I heard was to make them drop their wallet on the ground and then leave - you then turn their ID over to the game warden and they can follow up. I caught two guys fishing my lake on private property - one was even in an inner tube fishing. Had my shotgun in my buggy and chewed their butts out and ran them off. Next night they went to my ranch entrance and trashed it - broke lights out, etc. I had no way to prove they did it but they did. GW told me I should have gotten their wallets and IDs and he would have taken care of them

Makes me sick. I didn't pull my card and see this pic until after I sat in my blind for 3 hours. No wonder I didn't see any deer that day.

Print out the picture then draw targets on each one of them, then write on the picture trespass at your own risk and post it at their point of entry! That should get their attention should they come back.
