Doubled up with Mrs Catchdog on Mule deer bucks - 12/01/15 03:10 AM
So Mrs Catchdog brought her ugly husband with her to Childress county Saturday to take a mule deer "doe". With the ice on the ground and rain falling all morning we didn't see much right out of the box. We ran to town for a quick bite and got back before 1:00. Of course 3 of the mule deer doe were already in the food plot and had already devoured 2 bags of apples. So I chunked another bag and a half out cause I new they would be back. Just before 2 a new buck walked in following one of the does and price negotiations started by the time they were done he was bedded down watching the doe. After about an hour and a half the buck I was after walked over the hill and I told her things are going to be interesting. Of course as soon as the Bucks saw each other they started walking toward each other. Since only one window would open (ice) she had to take her shot from the left side window. She SMASHED him at 120 yards!!
As soon as we new he was down for the count I had Catchdog switch chairs with me and I slid my new Kimber Mountain Ascent 280AI out the same window. My buck was just standing there trying to figure out what happened. He started to walk toward her buck which gave me the broad side shot I was after so I let the Kimber bark. He ran about 10 yards bleeding like a stuck hog and piled up
Two nice mule deer bucks 60 yards and 60 seconds apart
Sure was glad to get mine on the ground. Had a guy slice him during bow season, then he wasn't close enough for another Hunter opening weekend I was beginning to think he wasn't going to get shot this year.
