Cull-ver aka "Cully" for short

Cull-ver aka "Cully" for short - 11/16/15 04:21 PM

I have seen this old buck 4 yrs in a row now since 2012. He has always been borderline 13" inside spread. I think he makes it this year. Might have let a family member or friend shoot him in a the next couple of weeks. He has been very dominant the past 2 yrs now and runs everything off the feeder when he is around. His torn ear is the aftermath of a fight that broke that whole mainbeam off. He showed up this morning and spent about 45 running does in and out of the field/feeder area. He has really muscled up the past couple of weeks. I nicknamed him Cull-ver, Cully for short. He is always entertaining when he shows up and never fails to put on a show.

His neck looks out of proportion... Nearly the size of his body.. Old deer right there and good pics as always.

I think he is 7 this year based off of the history and pics I have of him.
Here he is in 2012 season.

Here on December 18th, 2013

Here on December 31st, 2013 missing a mainbeam and the notch in the ear.

Here he is on November 9th, 2014 showing his dominance at the same feeder as the this morning.

Then on November 1st, 2015 before the season started.

I'd have a hard time shooting that beautiful breeder buck specimen. Those beams are longer than I thought they were from te head-on/slightly angled pics.

Re: Cull-ver aka "Cully" for short - 11/16/15 05:22 PM

You would have had a hard time shooting him till this year since he was never legal in the past. Beams are not really that long.

That'd be a great buck for a kid to take. I hope you can get somebody on him, he's not a bad buck and taking any deer that old is no small feat.

Getting that clean fresh break past the GW would be interesting to say the least. Better take any tools out of the tool box that could be used as a hammer.

Looks 7 to me too. I'd bet he was good shoot before he broke that main beam but he definitely is now. Some young man or some new hunter would be on cloud 9 after killing him. Awesome Pics sir!

Re: Cull-ver aka "Cully" for short - 11/17/15 02:49 PM

He's a hoss. The older I get the more I appreciate a big, OLD, dominate buck like him. He may not score great and I've killed bigger ones, but he's a trophy to me. If I had a kid or first time hunter with me, they better shoot fast or else they'll be helping me load up MY cull buck.....

Especially if I had the history and pics of him you do. The history and storyline make a hunt so much more rewarding to me.

Look closer...he is already busted up and you can see where he had brows and G2s at a minimum. I am not killing a buck based on what he is now.
