So you probably remember the before pic:

Here's the after (6 weeks later):

Don't have full range of movement or feeling but doc is confident it will return. And it gets cold like a SOB.

I will say that your injury made me extra-concious about not putting my fingers above the guard.

On a scale from 1-10, 10 being the worse, how bad did that hurt?

On impact and for the first 30 seconds it was about an 8 or 9 (not the most pain I've ever been in). During the next 30 seconds it reduced to a 1 or 2 as for the most part I could no longer feel it.

I read today about someone suing a crossbow manufacturer for not having a thumb guard. Guy injured himself in a similar way.

Looking good.
I was standing next to my sister-in-law when she did the same thing while target shooting. There was screaming.
The string actually broke the bone and ripped the skin open similar to your picture.
That was a year ago, she is in good shape and hunting with the same crossbow again. We all have become much more aware of the strings on crossbows.
Glad you are better, but thanks for sharing so hopefully others are more careful with crossbows.
