We took our second buck - LF - 188 inches/44.5 inches mass

We took another buck on our hit list this year. Score 188 inches, 14 points, 44.5 inches of mass, and live weight 250 lbs. one mass measurement was 7.5 inches. Long brow was 9 inches. Spread 20 inside. This is one of those deer that the pictures do not do justice. His mass is so heavy and his brows are so long it makes the other tines look short which they are not. His 2 and 3 on the right are both 11 inches.

He was shot last night - no blood. Called dogs in and they tracked him to a pond. Dog swam across the pond after him.

We went back this morning and he was floating in the water. Got a john boat and paddled to him and towed him to shore. We think the deer is 7 years old. The one pic is of him when he was 3 years old. The other is a trail pic from this year.

We have used several - Roy Hindes found one last year and this one was a fellow near us who does it for a hobby. He did a good job

Back in Sept I had guessed him in velvet to have 44-45" of mass and around mid 190's, but with a double row buck in velvet it is very difficult to see what is a typical point and what is a non-typical point. Still a great buck no matter what he scored.

I actually saw him live out of a stand. Very deceiving on scoring. At any rate, I called in one of our hunters who had not killed a trophy yet and put him in the stand. He hunted him hard for several days before he got his shot. It is the deer of a lifetime for him or any hunter.

When we measured him we were trying to decide if the one tine was in line or not- we called it in line but Las Cazadores called it abnormal - so that affected the scoring especially on mass - if you could see this deers rack live it blows you away - no way to get pictures of him that do it justice- brow is 9 inches on one side and two tines on his right are right at 11 inches - so adding in mass it makes the overall rack look smaller than it really is - one of the prettiest deer I have seen in South Texas - on top of that his horns are a very dark brown - very cool to see in person
