I dusted my oats in yesterday. I drilled mine in a bit deeper than normal and still had a bit of moisture down deep. Some will be up by Thur/Friday when I have 40%-50% chance of rain.

I planted Coker also. I planted 100#/acre of oats and 25# of a 3 Winter Pea blend. So if it rains my plots will look like a putting green if not it will look like your plots above right now.
Let it rain angel

Re: I couldn't take it anymore - 10/05/15 08:40 PM

We planted ours 2-3 weeks ago, only opportunity we would have then or never. They are coming up in places, supposed to get more rain end of this week, sure hope it does... our plots aren't quite that pretty though

Re: I couldn't take it anymore - 10/05/15 09:46 PM

cheers Payne, they have upped my chances of rain for Thru and Friday to 50% and 60% now. Let it rain.

I had to look they dropped Thursday to 30%, Friday stayed at 50%. Your plots look awesome.

How much per bag for the Coker? I paid $16.50.

Re: I couldn't take it anymore - 10/06/15 10:52 AM

Put mine in last week and checked em this week. They need rain for sure but there may not be any seed left since the turkeys spend most of the day there eating all the seed.

Good looking plots

Re: I couldn't take it anymore - 10/06/15 12:53 PM

Dang it. Our fields are pre- plowed but I do not think Hood county will get it? We'll see. Got 20 acres of wheat going in along with mixed plots for deer. My deal is the best, neighbor who runs cattle, plants the wheat and our plots, then keeps his cattle on the front 100 acres until the end of deer season! What a deal and we pay a part of his fuel for him. cheers

Re: I couldn't take it anymore - 10/06/15 12:55 PM

I planted mine over a week ago when the forecast was 80% for rain. We didn't get a drop, and it's been bone dry every since with nothing in the forecast.

Re: I couldn't take it anymore - 10/07/15 12:29 PM

Yes, I did the same thing on the same forecast from our weatherman. But it's getting so late, I need to plant anyway. I have one more plot that I am planting this weekend and then really hoping for rain . Here's photo of my wife helping me with all the plowing and planting that we did this weekend and one of the hot dusty food plot after planting.

Re: I couldn't take it anymore - 10/07/15 02:19 PM

I'm not feeling the el Nino thing. I have a couple hundred pounds of seed waiting to spread over what I planted two or three weeks ago. If I could only get a 'legit' forecast of rain...
