So, I may have a problem...

So, I may have a problem... - 09/21/15 03:10 PM

I like shooting hogs. Last year I'd typically see about 1 hog every 4-5 sits.

This year is looking a bit different. I see close to zero deer and, well, this...

Other feeder:

I sat Saturday morning and the hogs hit the feeder I was watching less than 30 seconds after it went off. Sounded like a thundering herd coming through the woods. Shot the biggest boar and couldn't even get a 2nd shot off because there were so many running everywhere I couldn't aim at 1. That's when I need the AR.

Then, was getting tools out of my truck and looked across my hay patch and had another enormous group at the other feeder. Stalked up on them and they winded me about 250 yards out, so I lobbed a couple shots. May have hit one, not sure. Didn't bother following them into the bamboo.

I've got a guy that's going to use one of those remote trapping systems coming out.

This is too many.

In good news, I actually got a picture of a deer as well. Little 8-point, I don't think he's legal.

Wish I had your problem. The deer on my camera will all get a pass this year

Feed pens and traps should do the job

yep.. you have a pig problem.. time for some hog panels around those feeders.. $20 Hog panels @ TSC cheaper than feeding hogs all season long.. throw some rye grass seed under those feeders and double the drawing power!

We had that problem. But we have trapped/shot 40+ hogs now, they have thinned out and gone nocturnal. It has been a lot work, and fun.

Mine is the same way, I usually get groups of 15 to 30 at a feeder at a time. Have run off pretty much all deer. I just put up panels that are 34" tall and for some reason the deer have not figured out how to jump the panels yet to get to the corn, weird! Only pics of deer is on the outside of the feeder pens

Don't look at it as a problem, but rather as a target of opportunity.

I have the same problem... Dont get me wrong, I love shooting hogs, but they have gotten pretty bad; I'm seeing less and less deer on the cams as time goes on.

It's a fine balance between tainting your deer spots before the season even starts, and trying to clean them out before they take reign of the entire area.

All might have to go to gravity feeders, pigs can't reach that high. Unless it's HOGZILLA!

I always liked hogs, its fun knowing you get to shoot everytime you see them. Seeing deer makes a hunt fun, but even when you see a good number of deer no guarantee you see a shooter. If you see hogs you see a shooter every time up

They can get old after a little while though.

I understand your problem all too well. Hope you can put a dent in the population!

They have gotten bad out at my sets as well. When it gets this dry alot harder for them to root.

Hog panels should keep them from the corn. That and a few well placed rounds.

Cameron let us know how the trap guys work out. I have the same issue going on right now. The panels are coming but its to late in the game for this deer season. Actually, I am looking forward to deer season b/c they seem to disappear during those few months? I have made three hunts over the last month or two and have had kills every time.

How well do gravity feed corn feeders work?

You will need more than 20 Lbs of tannerite....

I think you may need to call in an air strike to fix that problem rifle

I'm thinking you need to recreate the helicopter scene in Appocalipse Now with Robert Duval leading the charge music blaring on the PA speakers. cheers

You do need an AR, traps and alot of effort to get that thinned out.

I think everyone on this thread already knew you had a problem, now hogs have just been added to the mix.
