Re: My hide away... - 08/31/15 05:07 PM

Make it 36' and you'll waste less wood.

Re: My hide away... - 08/31/15 05:10 PM

Gonna be all steel. I asked my contractor if it would make a difference to be 35/36 he said nope. Hope to have it foam insulated some day, but not from the get go.

That metal is gonna be hot, and cold. How you gonna heat it? You got NG or propane? I have a solution for you.

Re: My hide away... - 08/31/15 08:31 PM

Only gas it will have is natural all right roflmao

It will be heated with memories of summer and cooled with a fan... well at least the moving air will make you feel better about sweating so much.

Look into the foam insulation real good. My cousin rebuilds Aircraft carbs/fuel injection units and has a hanger at an airport for a shop. Last year, the hanger closest to him got hit by lightning and the spray on foam insulation it had was pretty flammable. The entire hanger burnt to the ground with several million dollars worth of antique aircraft inside it.

Re: My hide away... - 09/01/15 02:34 AM

My metal shed is double insulated (not foam) and it has two south-north facing roll up doors. That breeze makes a huge difference. It'll get warm but not too hot. Of course, I have two A/C'd bedrooms that we can escape to.

Im not sure if he has a company name or not, he builds around the San Antonio area. He is a friend of my brothers BIL. I can get you his contact info if you want, send me a PM, not sure what areas he covers though.

Re: My hide away... - 09/01/15 12:19 PM

What they got done yesterday. I thought they would have gotten more, but had to soak the ground to drive the 2x4's. Ground is HARD, ive had to dig holes in it before and I feel their pain.

up At 35' you have to cut 1' of the width of a sheet off but can use 20' perlins in one bay and cut 30' purlins in half to make the 15' bay, at 36' you get all the coverage of your sheet metal but have to much scrap left in purlins. You have to buy a 3' wide sheet wether you use 1' or all 3' of the width... up

Re: My hide away... - 09/02/15 03:16 PM

If you could find it in your budget to insulate just the ceiling it will make a big difference in comfort level during the summer time. Good luck. Also Hope your doors are 12' wide and 10' tall. It is hard to back a trailer into a 10' wide door. 10' tall require 12' walls. That is if your using sectional overhead doors. If you have any questions on overhead doors send me a pm. That is what I do for a living.

gonna be awesome

Re: My hide away... - 09/02/15 03:25 PM

The doors are two 10' wide by 12' tall, building is 14-foot eve height. I don't think it will be too bad to get a trailer in there.

I considered a single 16 foot door but decided against it.

Thanks, but no thanks. There are plenty of those "companies" at my local Home Depot.

I put some stub in's so I can run electric to my sub panel and a water line/drain too and from a shop sink. That's all I will have in it.
