Nice non-typical, and a nice 8 on camera....

This deer showed up the other day. He was a regular at a feeder 1/2 mile S of here last year. He looks to be a 4.5-5.5 yr old and if he's 4.5.....he will get a free pass this year, but we will monitor him through the season.

Pleas excuse the fallen tree limb. We had bad storms last week. We cleaned it up yesterday.







Then we had this nice 8 show up

If you want a cool NT then I would take him this year since it is most likely from an injury. Other than that let him grow and see what he does. Nice buck either way.

I would shoot him this year if it were me. Nice bucks.

I am aware it could be cause of an injury. I am aware he might break it off. But he hasn't reached his potential we don't believe. This is on a 12 section ranch so I don't believe he will be going anywhere.

If he does, thats hunting..

We do have a bow stand 40 yards from this feeder. I might bow hunt that feeder a few times depending on wind.

Deer appears to have calouse knees, I would bet he has hit his prime and then some.

We hope to get some better pictures of this deer. And soon.

I'm sorry, but I simply will not excuse a downed limb.

That non-typical is a very nice buck, but that big 8 in the last photo is definitely not a buck to overlook. He's a stud, too. Both deer look mature to me, but I'm guessing this is in the panhandle like your profile says so they may not be as big-bodied when compared to your herd as they look. Both great deer, either way.

Thanks rattler. Yes we see nice bucks every year and manage the best we can. We cant possibly manage 12 sections with 2 hunters but we try to do the best we can.

Nice buck Bulldog4949. I have yet to check our cams yet but, going to this weekend. Just started throwing corn about 2-3 weeks ago. Can't believe how much rain we've got this year in the Panhandle. Everything is thick in our neck of the woods and the quail numbers are starting to get closer to how it was down there when I was a kid. Still not quite there but, numbers are expanding everywhere.

Thx panhandle. Man the deer are nice and fat. The quail are looking great this year. I bet we see 3-5 coveys everytime we are out there. Seen a pair with 7 babies Saturday. Definitely looking good.

I've never seen so many quail as this year.
