A few pics from 7:15 this evening 7-27 - 07/28/15 12:41 AM

This young buck showed up in front of the house around the feeder and water. I got the camera out and took a few pics. He appears to have damaged his left beam in velvet. He really kept to the shaded areas with the heat this evening.

Not anywhere really close. They love the corn feeders though and know what time they go off.

So if the whistlers like dry land corn and go to if, would it be possible instead of spending money on corn to scatter with the road feeder to just put out a spread of decoys to make the deer think there's corn there?

Got to ask stxranchman. What lens are you using. Your depth perception is great.

Those are with a Canon 500mm 4.0 IS lens and that buck is around 100 yards away or maybe a bit more on some pics.
Thanks everyone.

Refer to the "hitlist monster" thread...there you will find Sheriff's brother, just waiting to express its potential... grin

Thanks, Dah hammer I meant Field of view. The pictures really stand out. Do you use a monopod or pickup window to stabilize camera or just VR and off hand? Can you get this quality off hand? cheers

With that lens I have use something to rest on be it window sill, pickup window, hood of the truck, monopod or tripod. On these pics I was using a tripod. For close pics I can do pretty well hand held with really good light conditions.
