A couple of young bucks - 07/26/15 11:52 PM
I put a camera out a bit earlier this year than normal. With all the rain, Lab Lab and Soybeans they have not been eating much protein till about 10 days ago. I bought 40 sacks of protein the first week of Jan. and just ran out this week. Good to see some decent young bucks and hoping some of the older bucks made it thru the last of the season. I think a couple did not make it. These bucks will get a pass this year from me, not sure about the neighbors though.
This young buck was an 8 point last year then showed up with a broken rear right leg. It healed up and was surprised at how well he did. The great rainfall and fact he was raised on protein had to have helped. First pics is last summer, then in deer season with bad leg and then finally this year.
Last night this young buck showed up. I think he was a small 5x5 last year but not 100% yet. Age fits and shape (main beams don't match but he could have damaged the one side) but not sure till I see him in person to know. He has been on protein since he was a young buck fawn. He added some width, tine length and nice kicker.
