FIRST TIME ON THE LAKE IN FOREVER!!!

With the low water levels the last two years I have only been on the lake twice in two years but now that my home lake has caught about 7' of water I am back in business.

I tried to get 4 different THF and TFF members to go out there with me today but nobody could make it..........so I went by myself. I didn't have high hopes with all the new water coming into the lake and since I haven't been on the lake since last June or July I had no idea what to expect. I guess it must have been my third cast when I hooked up with my first fish. It was maybe 2 pounds so I took a quick pic with the cell phone and tossed it back. Maybe 2 casts later and I had my second one. Few casts later and got another. The first hour was incredible by public lake standards! I think I put 15 Bass in the boat the first hour and should have had at least that many more with the ones I missed and the ones that got off. Had one that was pushing 5 pounds and lost another one that was about that big as well.

After that bite slowed down I backed off to a little deeper water and caught the biggest of the day (a 7.10). Think I caught two more after that and then the wind died and the fish quit.

Now I got the fishing bug again!!

Heck yes. Most people wouldn't believe some of the nice bass that you catch out of Ray Hubbard. Holy mackerel

No I don't eat green fish.

I didn't talk to anyone today that was fishing for Crappie so I really don't know. I usually only mess with them in the winter time and some times the dead of summer though.

Nice day on the water I have heard that lake is a decent hybrid lake as well.

Very nice. Texoma should be at normal level any day now. It's half a foot low currently. Last summer it was 7 or 8 feet low.

It is for sure! I use to fish it all the time for Hybrids before the recent drought hit and TP&W quit stocking it. Now that the lake is just about full and some guys over on TFF founded the RHSA to fund the stocking of new Hybrids, hopefully it will return to its glory days of being one of the best (if not the best) Hybrid lake in the state.

My dad was up there yesterday and said doesn't even look like the same lake with all the new water.

I would have loved to had a Go Pro videoing the whole thing start to finish. I am sure it would have been comical for some to see me trying to fight the wind by keeping one foot on the trolling motor pedal, one hand on a 7.5' rod and the other hand trying to get the net under her while she was jumping around like a dang grasshopper trying to escape the path of a lawn mower. Heck I am tired just thinking about it again.
