I've seen them swim across the intercoastal south of Rockport coming from some of the spoil islands

I was thinking the same thing until I remembered it was at Lake Lewisville.
I had no idea they could swim like that. Very enlightening. I hope I get the opportunity when our river gets high and have my AR in hand. That would be too much fun and very effective.
