Re: Picture of my wifes hog - 03/05/15 07:08 PM

Thank you. She is new to hunting and after teaching her the basics with my Ruger 10/22, she started out with my .22-250. She shot one little guy with it and was so excited about it that I felt she needed her own rifle. We looked all around and decided on the Remington 700 youth model in 7mm-08. We found that most of the youth model rifles are pretty cheaply built. Out thinking is that they are just for the short term, until the youth grows into their full height and moves up to a full sized rifle. Since this is her forever rifle, we wanted the one that fit and felt the best for her. Cabela's was probably the most expensive, but they had so many to look at and choose from. Fortunately, she loves it and will sometimes go off and set up a target to practice all on her own.

Hey Dennis,

The hog was at the feeder and she shot him from the deer blind. It's a 150 yard shot. Lake Marabou is directly behind the deer blind.

Since then, we've fenced off the feeder and pretty much solved the hog issue. They are still around the creek and sometimes tear up the shoreline of the pond, but we can go an entire month how without getting any pictures of them on the game cameras.

Good shot ! OK, a bit confusing since I know the gazebo is near there on the house side, been awhile since I have been there and you have transformed that place ALLOT! At least now the only "hog" you have to deal with is "Oscar", he still there with y'all?

Oscar is doing good. Mostly he just sleeps. He was pretty active when it snowed, which was fun for getting a few pictures of him.
