Stop by Cade Taxidermy - 02/25/15 12:26 AM

They were sizing Kacee's giraffe and getting it ready to put together this week. It is large!

Can't wait to see how it turns out. Should be awesome.

Re: Stop by Cade Taxidermy - 02/25/15 12:39 AM

Yeah I am thinking will be great mount even though the sable she passed in order to do this was pretty awesome too.

Re: Stop by Cade Taxidermy - 02/25/15 12:40 AM

Massive!

Re: Stop by Cade Taxidermy - 02/25/15 01:04 AM

That is going to take up some space for sure.

Is he in Rockwall too?

He is Dave's (double d) step son.

Re: Stop by Cade Taxidermy - 02/25/15 01:18 AM

Have to be honest, didn't even know they were harvestable. Is it costly to hunt one and do you spot and stalk them?
Posted By: BMD

Re: Stop by Cade Taxidermy - 02/25/15 01:44 AM

Spot and stalk and they can see like crazy they feed a lot of people and not crazy expensive because no one wants to shoot for obvious reason of size and also kinda high to mount.

Yeah I had seen that mentioned a few times. Guessing he does more of the exotics than Dave?
Posted By: BMD

Re: Stop by Cade Taxidermy - 02/25/15 01:53 AM

No but Dave has normal ceilings and Dustin has 14ft in shop and I have known them both since I was kid. Dave is going to mount the rest of the safari.
Posted By: BMD

Re: Stop by Cade Taxidermy - 02/25/15 01:55 AM

Both do great work on all exotics. Dustin prolly does more African than Dave and especially giraffes.

The giraffe was tanned over there. The others tanned here and are getting close to being done and returned and then will start getting them done. The giraffe should be ready in about week to come home will post pics then.

Awesome looking man. You didn't by chance see a pheasant standing on a deer horn shed did you. I dropped the shed off a few weeks ago and he said they were going to mount it the next day. He hasn't called me yet but I wasn't sure if I was to go back up there quick or if he was going to call me. Lol

Congrats again on the mount

My only regret from my Safari is not caping my giraffe for a shoulder instead of a rug.... I was 100% prepared knowing what I wanted and how to mount it except the giraffe...

I had thought about rug but couldn't not mount it will be awesome memory that will stand out every day.

I don't see that happening. I may have to sell her this house when she gets older so she has place for giraffe.

Texas season was a little slow. Put my sister on a dang nice 8 (her first buck) and I killed a good one in Kansas.

Little ones are getting bigger but not ready yet. Daughter has graduated to the .22mag and .17 but isn't ready for anything bigger. Son will be ready for the .22 and BB gun by next season. Both love going and daughter asked tonight if it would be ok to make a "quick trip" this weekend or maybe next weekend. Figure she has a couple more years and I can't wait.

My niece (one on the left sig pic) had an outstanding season though. Shot her first deer (doe), first buck, first Mulie and then another doe. She is ate up with it.

That's greatness right there, I just wish they didn't grow up so fast. Won't be long the .243 or 7/08 and she will be knocking em down.

I might of missed it, but will it fit threw a regular door way? Or do you have double doors to get it in?

Thing is huge

I don't blame her one bit at all! In my own case, I don't even really desire to shoot a whitetail ever again. Between Wyoming and Africa, I am a content guy.

It will fit through regular 36" door barely but it is huge guess we will see soon for sure.

I was hoping for this summer but pops is trying to buy out a couple neighbors up in Wyoming, so I am pulling back the reigns on trying to make a trip happen across the pond. He wants to go hike the mountain in Tanzania, so he wants to do a trip over there in the next few years and combine it with a hunt over in Namibia. It will take him a while to get in shape for it though and pull the trip together. When are you planning on heading back?

One heck of a Dad right there.

Saw the zebra (in storage) at Dave's when I dropped off my mule deer. Y'all have quite the collection of critters.
