Torn ears are common in fights with bucks. I have several with them on my place now.

Yup, see them fairly often on our whitetails. We actually killed a boar a couple weeks ago that had no right ear at all. Just a small hole.

I promise you if a Lion gets that close to his face that deer will be missing a lot more than part of his ear!

I've seen tons of mulies on the family farm with torn ears. Like mentioned before, if it were actually a mountain lion there would have been a lot more damage or death.
