Very Unique Buck

Very Unique Buck - 12/22/14 02:59 PM

I've caught this deer at another stand a few times, and thought he was unique, but this time he gave us a full frontal.

Zooming in on the antlers, his bases are just massive. Any thoughts as to why he'd end up looking like this?

We've been hunting this area (Runnels County near Ballinger, TX) for 20+/- years, and never seen anything like it.

He's like a poly uni.

Very cool.

I was at a TBGA awards program for Region 4 once in the 90's. There was a buck there that looked like this. He was mounted and they had the shed from him from the year before. I say shed since when he shed the year before both antlers came off together as one shed. They were connected at the base of each antler. My guess is going to be an antler injury that caused him to break off both antlers in the skull causing injury to both pedicles.

Looking at his body, he is either old or sick.

I'm thinking he's rutted out. The other pics I have of him, he's plump and juicy.
