Help.. Sheep ID - 12/19/14 10:56 PM

Anyone know for sure? We were told by a staff member at Kickapoo State Park that it was a Barbado, another hunter said no way it was a Mouflon and another said Corsican. From the research I've done I think Corsican. Edit: LOL a couple hunters said it was an Aoudad. Picture is my son.

Hybrid. Corsicans are reddish orange with a black belly.

I was on a lease next to the Kickapoo years ago that had a couple of large herds of Barbados and have a big ram on my wall from there. That does not look like a Barbado to me. While Barbados vary widely in color, I agree It looks like a Corsican. I would guess the staff said Barbado because there are so many in tne area.

Has some markings like a Mouflon...but I would guess a hybrid as opposed to a pure Mouflon. So Mouflon x Some other sheep like a Corsican

Corsicans are often the cross of a mouflon and a Barbado. That's why I think this is a Corsican in that it has markings closer to a Mouflon, but the horns that curve out like a Barbado. Most hybrid/crossed exotic sheep are considered Corsicans.

We hunt a lot of rams like that along the Devils River and lake Amistad. Most would call them "Mouflon Crosses".
We shoot some that have more Mouflon shaped horns and some like the one in the picture. Colorations will vary slightly
as well.
