Knox County Buck - Score added

Knox County Buck - Score added - 12/14/14 12:36 PM

With rain forecasted for Sunday morning, but my last chance to hunt before Christmas, I reluctantly made a trip to the ranch for a one day hunt. Was on THF while in the blind yesterday morning at about 9:15 to keep me occupied because I'd only seen a one horned forked yearling buck all morning when out the side window, this dude came walking straight at me. No doubt I reached for my rifle, but I could not get it out the window for fear that he would most certainly see the movement as he was within 50 yards, almost at eye level and closing. The path he was on took him behind the blind and a blind spot (no pun intended). It seemed like the longest minute of my life waiting to see if he would re-appear at the other side of the blind. The hunting gods were on my side as he finally appeared and then finally cleared the brush. A quick grunt noise from me stopped him, and I put him down. Very blessed.

I know you guys like to guess scores. I put a tape to him, so guess away.

Good looking buck. Bummer on that broken brow tine but that will look cool on the mount. Love the width. Had you seen him before on cam or live?

Re: Knox County Buck - 12/14/14 06:45 PM

I had never seen him before. I went back and looked at trail cam pics and the first and only time he showed up was at 1:35 in the afternoon earlier this week. He wasn't heading to the feeder. I think he was just cruising by checking to see if there were any does.

Re: Knox County Buck - 12/14/14 11:43 PM

Alright. Had a couple of really close guesses on the score. brianl was closest. The buck measured 148 3/8's. His left brow time was 5 1/2 inches, so if his right was not broke off, No doubt he would have topped 150. Main beams which are always the hardest for me to judge, were 24 1/8 and 23 1/2. He was 19 1/2 inches wide.

I appreciate the compliments. Thanks guys.
