Wondering what to do with this guy. He's a regular at the feeder. I'm assuming this was from an injury and next year he should be ok? Or... Opinions please?!

That buck fell off an ugly tree. Poor guy, I wonder if the other deer make fun of him

Probably just hit it hard in velvet. Some goofed up antlers are due to an injury on the opposite side of the body, but this just looks like he hit it. I guess it could be an injury to that eye, 'cause it doesn't looks so good either.

I would say injury.

I think he messed it up in velvet. I may be completely wrong but if it's an injury I don't think he would grow uniform points like that. Looks like he grew or was growing his rack and messed it up in velvet.

He looks poorly all around. Looks like it might even be skull damage. It would be interesting to see what next year brings, if possible..

My wife killed a 6pt that looked like that, it was actually skull damage. We figured fighting.

Have seen several similar over the years and killed a few including one elk with broken pedestals. What he will be next year only time will tell but you can bet it will be some non typical antlers, or could be that the rack on his right side even kills him while growing out, antlers growing into the jaw preventing him from eating has killed more than one deer like that.

Thanks for the input guys. We will see what next year brings for him. Another ? ....would you have to use your one good buck tag if one did take him...being that it's an AR county and he's branched on both sides? Or does the AR situation make him off limits?

Yeah, from what I'm looking at you would have to use the "big buck" tag in an AR county. He does not have "one unbranched antler." I also think his right antler hanging down below his jaw makes him meet AR's.

It looks like a busted skull. I have seen it on several deer over the years.

I have had bucks like that from time to time, broken skull plate. Never be the ssme again. I put a bullet in him, unless you just want to see what he is the next year.
