The Rut Is Starting In South Texas - 11/30/14 03:21 AM
I spent Thanksgiving afternoon on the ranch, ended up heading home around 3pm to eat with the family then got a phone call from one of the guides saying we had 2 wounded deer down. So, I loaded up the dog and headed back.
This buck was on the radar since December. I scored him at 136. He came in around 5pm. This was the young lady's first and BIGGEST buck. She did a great job - Dad and her husband were very proud.
This guy came in around 5pm also with a doe. We gave him a couple hours and the track began. He scored 147. We have been managing this particular ranch very hard for the last 5 years. The results are starting to finally show, a little protein (actually a TON of protein) and passing young deer really pays off.
