TX KILLER! I found a bigger one for ya...

After posting pics of that itty bitty coral snake the other day, had to post these for you. At the ranch today and was checking on some fresh pork ribs on the pit from a morning pig....caught this beauty in the yard of the ranch house. I suppose, if one were to step on this sucker at night it might give them a startle. Medium sized Blue Indigo, always good to see them around. Unfortunately we have accidentally killed several quite a bit bigger than this one mowing on the tractor

They are pretty calm natured snakes, I have a soft spot for them.

We had a huge Indigo under the house growing up.

Ain't gonna hurt no body my.... I would die of a heart attack if I walked up on that, I can see it now trying to run away and tripping or something then having it way too close for comfort.

Yes, rattlesnakes are a favorite food of Blue Indigo's and Kingsnakes.

Those are cool creatures. Their mass is impressive. I'd pull a wburke though tripping all over myself trying to get away from it. Not a "snake guy"

There actually amazing to see in the field, I have seen them stand up like a Coach Whip 3/4 foot off the ground...I had a buddy shed hunting with me once and he had never seen one and we walked down a Caliche road and one was standing up looking at us and he screamed like a little girl and he ran back to the Ranger and was scared to death..he said Man are those dangerous and I said they kill about 2-3 people a year in South Texas

The biggest one I've seen was on the King Ranch, that snake was close to 15' and FAT!

That is one of the biggest Indigo's I have ever seen, they are awesome snakes and can keep the vermin level to a complete minimum. Great post. Killer, I am sending you two of these.

Loves rats & rattlesnakes, we have plenty of both. Yes I let it go.

They are fast, this one hauled butt and crawled into the cinder blocks that the central AC unit sits on. Used some snake grabbers to pull it out, then just grabbed behind the head and picked it up. FME, you really have to mess with one before they get pissy. If you're gentle with them, you can normally handle them with no problem. They are pretty layed back snakes. It was a treat for me to get to put my hands on this one, I really like these snakes.

They get bigger sir, big and beautiful.

I saw one that was about 12 feet long down in Kennedy tx. Very cool snakes.

I treed one at our lease in Real County last month when I was trying to catch it. Very cool snakes that will always get a pass from me.

about 10 years ago i was hunting with a buddy of mine on his family's ranch in Fowlerton Tx. I had never heard of an indigo snake. He was telling me about these snakes and they get over 9feet long. I called BS. First afternoon walking down a sendero going to my blind one of them big bastards bout gave me a heart attack. If it wasnt for my friend yelling at me not to shoot it with my 25-o6 there would have been one less in the world.
