White Squirrel

Thought you guys might be interested in seeing a solid white(appears to be albino) fox squirrel. Anyone else ever see one?

Heres a picture I took many years ago of a yellow squirrel with pink eyes.

My mother grew up in a small town in Illinois, famous for its white squirrel population. They were neat to watch when I was a kid going to visit my grandparents. White Squirrels

There is one on the UT campus-legend is if you see it on the way to take a test, you will make an "A" on the test. My oldest saw it on her way to a test and sent me this pic last year. Don't remember if it worked or not.

Wow, like a few others have said, I've seen a jet black one (in the wild), but never even a picture of a white one.

Very nice pics. There are many black ones in a nearby town. Always wanted to live trap a few and release them around home. How many would shoot him and do a full body mount on him climbing on a branch? I think I would wait and see if he survives the natural predators, and maybe there will be more around that area in a generation or two.

I wonder if he jumps as well as the other squirrels in the forest?

Up in Oklahoma they would call that a spirit squirrel and worship it on full moons

Even though it is legal to take a white squirrels picture it is unethical. It's such a magical creature and you just stole it's magic.

That thing sure does look like a rat.

There was a white cat squirrel on LSU's campus a couple years back.

I would have had a fully body mount done on that squirrel...climbing a limb in my living room! Thanks for sharing!

If he was around the house I'd let him live and make sure plenty of food was around so I could watch him....in the woods I'd have a full body mount....I shot a black one when I was about 15....didn't know how rare it was...I put it in the freezer...my mom tossed it out....Holland, TX, Bell county

Never have seen one and that is some great pics you have of the squirrel.

I've seen one here in Hamilton twice at the same place. First time nobody was with me and didn't figure anyone would believe me. Saw it again a few days later and coworker saw it too lol.

I was at an Alumni tournament at Woodland Hills outside of Nacogdoches this past April and saw one. All white with red/pink eyes. Didn't seem too afraid of people. My wife got real close and got several great pictures. I'll see if I can get some loaded.
When I went to SFA in the early '80s we would see solid black ones around Lake Nac.

Wasn't there another forum member that had seen one and was hunting it for a mount a while back? Wonder if he ever got em?

Haven't seen a white or black one since Teenage poaching days in East Texas. I saw them occasionally in the Sabine Bottoms.

SEEN ONE 30 YEARS AGO IN SOUTH MISS.

I wonder the rarity - they just had a white gator in New Orleans kick the can after 28 years. News report says there are 20 something out of 5 million of those.

I figure gators in Lousiana are probably as prevalent as squirrels in Texas....

The neat thing about the gator story was that 17 of them white ones was scooped up at the same time by land surveyors so you figure the odds on that find!
