Looking to pay it forward

Looking to pay it forward - 03/16/17 01:50 PM

The guys on my lease and myself are looking to pay it forward this coming deer season by taking a veteran and his family out, or possibly two individual veterans. We have a small guest house a short drive from our lease in Jarrell Texas that can sleep 4 people(two queen beds). If you or someone you know is a veteran that was honorably discharged and can provide proof of being honorably discharged, you would be qualified. Our stands are primarily tower blinds(8'-10') but we do have a couple of box blinds on the ground as well with access via truck to get extremely close to help with anyone who is disabled and needs walking assistance or is in a wheel chair. The tower stands may be slightly more tricky for that situation. The hunt would be a weekend set up(Friday-Sunday morning)and we would cook all the meals as well as clean and quarter your animals. You would still have to take it to the processor but we would start the process for you anyway. My granddad served in WW2 and I know at least one other lease member had a granddad that served as well. What y'all do for our country goes unappreciated at times, and we want to be able to say thank you the best way we know how.

I might like to be considered if possible.

I'm a veteran (30 years Army and Army National Guard) with tours in the Gulf War, Iraq, and A'stan.

I don't have any disabilities rated by the VA though and will gladly defer to anyone who does.

Also live in Georgetown so just being able to hunt is all I ask. I don't get the opportunity to go as much as I would like.

I know it's early but if no one else is interested send a PM.

Nice offer of you and your lease buddies as well! up up flag

I am a disabled combat veteran. I served 2005-2010, 06-08 in combat. I was involved in 7 ied blasts, 5 of which caused brain damage and caused my brain to shrink in size. I also have ptsd and a neurologically based muscle disorder. I have a very good friend who I got started hunting a few years ago, he is a disabled Marine veteran, we have yet to get an opportunity to hunt together. We would both very much appreciate being considered for this hunt. Thank you guys, whoever you choose for this it is truly an amazing thing you are doing, you have no idea how much this sort of thing means to those of us that don't get to hunt very often.

Thank you for for offering this hunt to the men and women who have put it all on the line for our country. You and your partners are stepping up for those of us that didn't come out of combat exactly the same as we went in.

There are are several members of this Forum that are disabled combat veterans, as I am, and anyone of them deserve this opportunity, most of us live on a limited budget which limits hunt opportunities.

So whatever happened with this?? OP posted this here and in open hunting got lots of thumbs up and atta-boys, not to mention responses from a lot of Very deserving Vets. And disappeared???? Or did they host a hunt and just never followed up on THF???

Is this still an active post? I don’t see a post about anyone being picked.
